About The Position

Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) is seeking a motivated and dedicated Certified Millwright for its Milling division in Halifax, NS. P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company, producing a variety of flour and cereal products from wheat sourced across Canada. With mills in multiple provinces, P&H supplies flour to customers in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety and reliability of plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency.

Requirements

  • Journeyman/Red Seal trades certification as Millwright
  • Experience in fabricating and welding
  • Able to work in environments subject to dust allergens and higher temperatures as well as in all outside weather conditions.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of quality control practices and procedures as per BRCGS regulations.
  • Physically fit with the ability to safely lift 25kg.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Dependable with the ability to work with an on-call schedule.
  • Previous experience (ideally in flour mill operations) which include elevators, conveyors, rotary valves, compressors, blowers, fans, grinders, electric motors, gearboxes and filtration equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance, service, repair, and maintenance of plant and facilities equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain the safety and reliability of machineries and equipment.
  • Assemble, align, dismantle and position stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to specifications.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, feeler gauges etc.
  • Troubleshoot issues with hydraulic systems.
  • Perform general facility maintenance.
  • Participate in fumigation/heat treatment (involves working in higher temperatures).
  • Complete and comply with all health, safety and food safety training relating to the job.
  • Complete fall arrest, forklift, telehandler, and scissor lift training.
