About The Position

Longhorn Village is a Texas-based, not-for-profit retirement community offering a Life Care contract and a continuum of on-site care, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. The Certified Medication Aide works in Skilled Nursing and administers medications as prescribed, documents their administration and effectiveness, and records adverse reactions or side effects. The role also supports residents’ daily living and social needs, promotes independence, responds to calls, and communicates facility and resident updates to nursing leadership. The position is PRN.

Requirements

• Hold a current State of Texas Certified Medication Aide license.
• Hold a current State of Texas Certified Nursing Assistant license.
• Be able to read regulations and write clearly.
• Communicate in a courteous, friendly manner.
• Have the ability to effectively manage and direct subordinates.
• Have a positive customer-service attitude and genuine interest in geriatric care.
• Be able to motivate while maintaining relationships with staff and residents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medications as directed by the Charge Nurse and ordered by the physician.
• Document medication administration, effectiveness, and any adverse reactions or side effects.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living and family and social activities, while promoting their independent lifestyles.
• Respond promptly and courteously to residents’ call system.
• Provide daily reports to the Director of Nurses and/or Charge Nurse about facility conditions, resident conditions, and nursing supply needs.
• Consistently demonstrate hospitality behavior and the core values of quality, respect, service, and integrity.
• May be required to work shifts as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
