About The Position

Longhorn Village is a Texas-based not-for-profit retirement community offering independent living and a continuum of on-site care, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. The Certified Medication Aide works in Skilled Nursing and administers medications as prescribed by physicians, documenting administration, effectiveness, and any adverse reactions or side effects. The role also supports residents’ daily living and social activities, promotes independence, responds to resident calls, and communicates facility and resident needs to nursing leadership. The aide may also be required to work shifts as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Requirements

• Hold a current State of Texas Certified Medication Aide license.
• Hold a current State of Texas Certified Nursing Assistant license.
• Be able to read regulations and write clearly.
• Communicate in a courteous, friendly manner.
• Have the ability to effectively manage and direct subordinates.
• Meet the physical requirements referenced in the job posting.
• Have a strong positive attitude toward customer service and a genuine interest in geriatric care.
• Be able to motivate others and maintain relationships with staff and residents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medication as directed by the Charge Nurse and ordered by the physician.
• Document medication administration, effectiveness, and any noted adverse reactions or side effects.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living and family and social activities, while promoting an independent lifestyle.
• Respond promptly and courteously to residents’ call system.
• Provide daily reports to the Director of Nurses and/or Charge Nurse regarding facility conditions, resident conditions, and nursing supply needs.
• Demonstrate hospitality and the core values of quality, respect, service, and integrity.
• Work shifts as a Certified Nursing Assistant when required.
