About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care by gathering essential clinical information under the supervision of Registered Nurses and assisting nurses and other healthcare practitioners. The role contributes to high-quality, safe, compassionate care through collaboration with nursing staff, adherence to established policies and procedures, and use of appropriate techniques and safety precautions. The position is at Marion County Juvenile Detention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Requirements

Successfully complete an accredited Certified Medical Assistant course.
Hold current Medical Assistant certification in the state if certification is required by the state or facility.
Be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification if required.
Reside in the United States.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with RNs and healthcare staff, following established policies and procedures to provide quality patient care and using proper techniques and safety precautions.
Gather patient histories, verify medications, and make appropriate referrals for follow-up.
Follow designated work schedules, respond effectively to codes or patient crises according to site policies, and assist healthcare practitioners as assigned.
Apply infection-control techniques and principles to support patients’ emotional and physical comfort and safety.
Maintain work areas, supplies, and equipment.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and training.
