About The Position

Encompass Medical Group is a primary care provider group dedicated to the highest standards of healthcare excellence across its five offices in the Kansas City metro area. They are currently recruiting for a float Certified Medical Assistant for their Lee's Summit office. This is a full-time position. Encompass Medical Group is offering a $500.00 sign-on bonus to new hires upon completion of their probationary period, and an additional $500.00 completion bonus after one full year of service. The Medical Assistant is a vital part of the organization, responsible for organizing and prioritizing daily workflow to ensure efficient patient flow. The MA must interact courteously and professionally with physicians, receptionists, and ancillary services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Complete a certifiable Medical Assistant course or other approved training
  • Maintenance of an active Medical Assistant certification required from a nationally recognized organization
  • Requires multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Phone and customer service skills
  • Maintain OSHA regulations
  • Maintain dress code as specified by Office Manager
  • Assist in patient movement as needed
  • Moving small equipment
  • May be required to travel to other offices
  • Lifting and moving medical supplies
  • Keep facility free of potential hazardous conditions to protect patients or co-workers from slip, fall, or harmful outcomes
  • Handling bio-hazard substance(s)
  • Pre-employment drug screen and background check required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain active medical assistant certification required from one of the following nationally-recognized organizations: NHA, NAHP, AAMA, AMT, NCPE, ARMA, NPS, NCCT
  • Prepare and instruct patients for exams, perform procedures that include but are not limited to electrocardiograms, blood pressures, throat cultures, immunizations, dressing changes, suture removal, holter analysis, spirometry and other CLIA waived laboratory tests
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of procedures in the electronic medical record; record reason for visit and other pertinent medical history while maintaining confidentiality
  • Assist with the coordination of care with outside consultants for additional patient care
  • Assure coding for all services provided
  • Facilitate completion of prior authorizations and/or referrals to coordinate care with outside consultants for additional patient care or pharmacy request
  • Assist healthcare providers with exams and procedures, anticipating equipment and instruments required and necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area; keep exam rooms neat; change table paper and remove soiled linen after each examination
  • Order supplies and medications/vaccines when needed
  • May screen and return phone calls for providers under their direction and supervision
  • Obtain and maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Provide back up to other Medical Assistants in the areas of Adult Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics and Receptionist as needed
  • Assist with service area procedures when necessary
  • Working knowledge of Indexing Client and GE Centricity
  • Performs other duties as assigned
