About The Position

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant supports doctors and clinical procedures while helping deliver patient-first dental care. The role includes assisting with charting, fillings, operatory setup and cleanup, and patient education. The assistant performs expanded duties within applicable state regulations and compliance requirements, records and reviews patient health histories, makes chart entries under a doctor's direction, completes forms and signatures in dental software, and enters or updates treatment plans as directed by the treating provider.

Requirements

• EFDA certification or on-the-job training, as required by state regulations.
• Radiography licensure in accordance with applicable state requirements.
• CPR certification.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Knowledge of dental charting software and digital X-rays, with the ability to learn new programs as needed.

Nice To Haves

• 1–5 years of experience is preferred; new graduates will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctors with charting, placement of fillings, operatory setup and cleanup, and patient education.
• Perform expanded duties in accordance with state regulations and compliance requirements.
• Assist with clinical procedures and treatment, including placing amalgam or composite fillings, adapting temporary crowns, removing surgical sutures, and applying topical fluoride treatments, subject to state limitations.
• Record and review patient health histories, make chart entries under the doctor's direction, and ensure forms and signatures are completed in dental software.
• Enter and update patient treatment plans at the direction of the treating provider.
