Certified Medical Assistant
About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), also referred to as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), supports clinical and administrative tasks in a fast-paced Family Practice environment. Duties include taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, updating patient records, and coordinating appointments. The role works under the supervision of physicians and nurses to support patient care and smooth clinical operations. The position is at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, with a day schedule of 6:00 AM–4:30 PM Tuesday through Friday (four 10-hour shifts) and no weekends.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience in a medical clinic setting to be considered.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience, required for new hires effective April 2014.
- Medical Assistant certification required.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
- At least one year of work experience in a public-contact job.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in health care preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, obtain vital signs, and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
- Assist providers with routine clinical procedures, treatments, and patient care needs.
- Administer medications and injections as permitted by certification and clinic policy.
- Update patient records, document clinical information, and maintain accurate medical histories.
- Coordinate prescription refills, lab results, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
