About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant supports physicians and other professional healthcare providers in an ambulatory care setting with patient care, examinations, exam preparation, and laboratory work. The role performs basic medical assisting procedures to promote patients’ care, comfort, and safety. It also supports front-office operations as needed, including reception, medical records, scheduling, and billing.

Requirements

Medical Assistant certification from AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA, NHA, NAHP, or NPCE.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a physician’s office.

Responsibilities

Show patients to exam rooms, interview them, measure vital signs, and document information in the Electronic Health Record.
Assess and record patient symptoms, reactions, and physical condition in medical records.
Collect laboratory specimens, prepare them for pickup, record information in the patient’s electronic health record, and coordinate with appropriate departments regarding protocols and procedure-related information.
Set up examination rooms and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
Assist with examinations and procedures according to the physician or healthcare provider’s preferences, including gynecological exams, minor surgeries, electrocautery, biopsies, sigmoidoscopies, casting, sterile-technique procedures, and specimen preparation.
Maintain knowledge and skills related to front-office operations.
Assist as necessary with reception, medical records, scheduling, and billing functions.
