About The Position

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide patient care in an ambulatory clinic. The CMA communicates effectively, demonstrates responsible behavior, and works as a member of the healthcare team. Clinical tasks are performed under the direct supervision and authority of a physician. The CMA reports to the clinic manager for administrative supervision, staff development, and orientation to clinic policies and procedures. The position requires competency in patient-care skills, maintaining examination and procedure room supplies, supporting efficient patient flow, and organizing the clinic environment to promote patient safety. The CMA also demonstrates problem-solving skills and provides guidance and serves as a role model for Medical Assistants in the clinical area. The role includes caring for patients across age groups, including neonates, adults ages 18–64, pediatric and adolescent patients under 18, and geriatric patients age 65 and older. Occasional coverage at other offsite JHU Ortho/PMR/MSK clinic locations may be provided remotely or by traveling to the location, and evening-shift coverage may be needed.
