About The Position

PrimaryMD is a concierge primary care and longevity practice seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for its Hudson Yards practice. This role involves direct patient care, performing blood draws, processing specimens, assisting physicians with patient visits, managing prior authorizations and referrals, and maintaining the clinic's readiness. The ideal candidate will have a strong phlebotomy background, experience with prior authorizations, and familiarity with the New York City healthcare system. This is a full-time, in-person position reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Current national MA certification required: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), or CCMA (NHA).
  • Expert phlebotomist — 2+ years of regular, high-volume draw experience.
  • 3+ years as a medical assistant in outpatient, primary care, or specialty practice.
  • Hands-on prior authorization experience — experience with insurer portals, peer-to-peer queues.
  • EKG, point-of-care testing, and EMR proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Separate phlebotomy certification (CPT) a plus.
  • Familiarity with NYC hospital systems (Mount Sinai, Lenox Hill / Northwell, NewYork-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell), imaging centers, and specialist landscape strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws with exceptional technique and a calm, reassuring presence.
  • Handle specimen processing, labeling, and lab logistics end to end.
  • Room patients, take vitals, administer EKGs and point-of-care testing, prep for procedures, and keep the clinical day running smoothly for our physicians.
  • Own prior authorizations from submission to approval for imaging, medications, and specialist visits.
  • Coordinate referrals with specialist offices and imaging centers and follow through until the patient is seen.
  • Utilize knowledge of New York's hospital systems, imaging centers, and pharmacies to facilitate care.
  • Manage inventory, supplies, exam room turnover, and equipment checks.
