Certified Medical Assistant
About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant supports the Breast Care Service at St. Vincent Medical Group in Kokomo, Indiana, with travel to locations in Carmel, Fishers, and Naab Road. The role assists with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse and performs select clinical duties. The Medical Assistant interviews patients, takes vital signs, records information in patient charts, and prepares examination rooms. The role also includes basic clerical and supply management duties, maintaining a clean and orderly environment, and potentially documenting provider encounters and transcribing patient orders.
Requirements
- BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days of hire or job transfer.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential within 90 days of hire or job transfer.
- High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
Responsibilities
- Assist with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse.
- Perform select clinical duties.
- Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
- Perform basic clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
- Order and stock supplies and assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
- May document provider encounters, including diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
- Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
