About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant assists a physician with the daily operations of the physician’s office. The role maintains efficient patient flow and supports patient care—including exams, procedures, and patient education—under a physician’s direction and supervision. The Medical Assistant performs triage, monitors and records patient vital signs, performs EKGs and phlebotomy as applicable, and ensures medical documentation of office visits. The role may also assist the office and scheduling coordinator in their absence, if necessary. Contacts with patients, the public, physicians, and other personnel must be friendly, courteous, helpful, and considerate.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program, or three years of relevant work experience in lieu of program completion.
Medical Assistant certification through NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, ARMA, or HPRUS; the employer allows 90 days to obtain certification.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school, or three years of relevant work experience in a healthcare setting in lieu of the diploma.
