Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together. This role is for a Certified Medical Assistant at Texas Hip Knee FW 19038, a legacy practice with over 50 years of experience. The department offers a yearly bonus and is a great place to work. The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients, under the direction of a healthcare provider. This includes performing preliminary physical tests, administering medications, collecting specimens, documenting patient care, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. The role may also involve front office duties as needed.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Successful completion of THPG Clinical Training (CT) educational program with demonstrated competency in required skills-within 90 days of job entry (Required)
CMA - Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support Exception Quarterly 90 Days (Required)

Nice To Haves

1 year of Medical Assistant experience (Preferred)
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
Obtain and record vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKG's.
Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing.
Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the provider.
Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol. Keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
