About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant is an essential part of patient visits, accompanying the dermatologist in the exam room and helping create a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists. The position works 35 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The employee works at Gulf Breeze on Monday and Tuesday and Pensacola Baptist on Wednesday and Thursday, and must travel between the clinic locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintain current state certifications, licenses, and/or registrations required to continue employment.
• Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
• Organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize appropriately, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Post-high-school education in a medical support field; Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse is strongly preferred.
• One or more years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and document vital information.
• Scribe information for the dermatologist.
• Provide post-operative wound care to patients.
• Draw blood and remove sutures.
• Clean and stock exam rooms.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Assist the dermatologist with procedures, including surgical photographs, punch, DIF, and shave biopsies, excisions, electrodessication and curettage, incision and drainage, Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery, phototherapy, injections, KOH preps, trichograms, Tzanck preps, dermabrasion, patch testing, and blue light procedures.
