About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports the clinical and clerical operations of Proactive MD’s health and wellness center and contributes to its patient-focused mission. Under the direction of the provider and Health Center Nurse Manager, the CMA assists the provider, performs appropriate tests and procedures, and handles administrative tasks. The role may also support employee and patient engagement and outreach.

Requirements

• Ability to draw blood and confidence in blood-draw skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification valid for at least 90 days after the start date.
• Experience working with pediatric patients.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly.
• Knowledge of HIPAA.
• Must pass pre-employment background checks and a drug screen.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree.
• Medical Assistant certification.
• Certification in hearing and fit testing, or willingness to become certified.

Responsibilities

• Assist with provider-ordered treatments under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse and perform select clinical duties.
• Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information in patient charts.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
• Perform clerical duties, including answering phones, maintaining records, and filing.
• Order and stock supplies, assist with materials management, and help maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• As directed by the provider, document patient encounters, diagnoses, symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions.
• Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
• May assist with employee and patient engagement and outreach.
