About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care in a physician practice office by preparing patients for examinations and providing care coordination, clinical documentation, and other clinical support. The position works across front-office and clinical areas as assigned and supports a provider who cares for 20–40 patients daily. The position is eligible for a $5,000 retention bonus.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a qualified Medical Assistant course.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
Nice To Haves
- One or more years of medical-office experience.
- Previous patient-care experience in the physician-office specialty area.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for physician or provider examinations and administer injections and immunizations.
- Perform laboratory testing, EKGs, and other medical-office tests and procedures.
- Schedule appointments and testing procedures; work in front-office and clinical areas as assigned.
- Apply medical knowledge and critical-thinking skills to assist physicians with proficient and comprehensive documentation.
- Arrange diagnostic testing, specialist appointments, and hospital admissions.
- Perform required phlebotomy, venipuncture, wound or lesion site cleansing, injections, immunizations, and other special procedures as needed.
- Measure and record at least three vital signs per patient visit.
- May perform telephone triage by gathering details about illnesses, answering questions, ensuring information is available, and reviewing calls with a nurse practitioner or physician as appropriate.
- Maintain waiting rooms, examination rooms, and offices; order supplies as required.
- Support team building by supporting management decisions and participating in performance-improvement activities.
- Train other Medical Assistants.
- Notify management of changes in workload.
- Complete all educational requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
