About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care, care coordination, clinical documentation, and other clinical functions in a physician practice office. The role supports a provider who cares for 20–40 patients daily and works Monday through Friday. The position is eligible for a $5,000 retention bonus.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a qualified Medical Assistant course.
Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of medical-office experience.
Previous patient-care experience in the physician-office specialty area.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for physician or provider examinations and administer injections and immunizations.
Perform laboratory testing, EKGs, and other medical-office tests and procedures.
Schedule appointments and testing procedures, and work in front-office and clinical areas as assigned.
Use medical knowledge and critical thinking to assist the physician with proficient and comprehensive documentation.
Arrange diagnostic testing, specialist appointments, and hospital admissions.
Perform phlebotomy, venipuncture, injections, immunizations, other special procedures, and cleansing of wound or lesion sites as needed.
Measure and record at least three vital signs per patient visit.
Perform telephone triage as needed, including gathering details about illness, answering questions, ensuring information is available, and reviewing calls with the nurse practitioner or physician as appropriate.
Maintain waiting rooms, examination rooms, and offices, and order supplies as required.
Support team building by supporting management decisions and participating in performance-improvement activities.
Train other Medical Assistants.
Notify management of workload changes.
Complete all educational requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
