About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant supports patient care by gathering essential information during the clinical process under the supervision of Registered Nurses. The role assists nurses and other healthcare practitioners, applying education and demonstrated competencies to help deliver high-quality care. The Medical Assistant collaborates with nursing staff and contributes to patient comfort, safety, and comprehensive healthcare support. The position is at Marion County Juvenile Detention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Requirements

• Successfully complete an accredited Certified Medical Assistant course.
• Be currently certified as a Medical Assistant in the state if certification is required by the state or facility.
• Be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification if required.
• Reside in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with RNs and healthcare staff and follow established policies and procedures to support quality patient care, using appropriate intervention techniques and safety precautions.
• Gather patient histories, verify medications, and make appropriate referrals for follow-up.
• Follow designated work schedules, respond to codes or patient crises according to site policies, and assist healthcare practitioners as assigned.
• Apply infection-control techniques and principles to support patients’ emotional and physical comfort and safety.
• Maintain work areas, supplies, and equipment.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and training.
