About The Position

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is hiring Certified Medical Assistants to provide care in the medical department at Charles County Detention Center in La Plata, Maryland. The Medical Assistant performs duties under the supervision of an LPN. Requirements

Hold an active Medical Assistant Certification.
Have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced position.
Have a good grasp of patient assessment skills.
Have clerical experience and the ability to type.
Have effective communication skills.
Have a pleasant telephone manner.
Be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Have working knowledge of office equipment and medical equipment.
Have working knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

Perform initial intake screenings for new patients, take vital signs, and complete appropriate intake forms according to written protocol.
Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.
Phone to verify medications and medical information.
Obtain physician-ordered laboratory specimens, including venipunctures.
Perform treatments ordered by a physician.
Maintain medication records.
Administer tuberculin skin tests to new intakes and perform annual follow-up testing for inmates/patients.
Type reports, letters, and memoranda.
Answer and process telephone calls.
Maintain the filing system and protect the confidentiality of information.
Follow universal precautions.
Maintain a pleasant working attitude.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated.
