About The Position

Support Essentia Health’s Podiatry Team, including registered nurses, physicians, and other providers, by providing direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting. The role contributes to meeting Essentia Health’s mission and goals. The position is based at the Brainerd Clinic in Brainerd, Minnesota, and is scheduled for 32 hours per week, with 8-hour day shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are no weekend or holiday shifts and no call obligation.

Requirements

• Hold at least one of the following: current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant; completion of a Medical Assistant program, with certification required within one year of hire and passing the certification exam within two attempts; or current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the relevant state.
• Be Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified or able to obtain certification within three months.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patient assessments, including measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist with diagnosis and health monitoring.
• Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and maintaining infection control.
• Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral medications; monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects and document accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Help coordinate follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Conduct patient intake, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examinations or diagnostic testing.
