About The Position
The Certified Medical Assistant I provides general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. The role collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to support practice operations and excellent patient care. The position may involve clerical, administrative, and clinical work, including specialized tasks as assigned. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- National certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- National CCMA certification from NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's degree in Medical Care or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in health care services.
- BLS upon hire.
- Experience with EPIC or a similar EMR system.
- Ability to work within computer systems.
- Excellent communication, work ethic, and active listening; adaptability to a fast-paced environment; and the ability to maintain the utmost professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Handle patient intake, update medical records, and administer appropriate screening tools.
- Record medical information and test results; conduct patient interviews; take and record vital signs; collect specimens; and administer medication under physician supervision.
- Assist with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, verify and record clinical data, and adhere to quality standards.
- Monitor the environment for continual accreditation readiness and evaluate the practice schedule for changes or updates.
- Apply knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating holistic, patient-centered, and team-based care.
- Guide patients through the health care system and help them arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
- Provide emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
- Assist with referrals to appropriate specialists for diagnosis or treatment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
