About The Position

Seeking a highly motivated individual interested in supporting multiple areas within the ambulatory clinic setting. The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensures that the office runs smoothly.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA); required within 30 days
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health (AAH)
  • High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Room patients by collecting information on chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and performing medication reconciliation
  • Conduct telephone interactions with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities as directed
  • Gather and maintain patient information via telephone according to department policies
  • Perform administrative tasks including: Patient check‑in and check‑out, Prior authorizations, Scheduling appointments, Verification of benefits, Coordination of referrals and testing
  • Carry out office procedures per department competencies
  • Perform clinical procedures such as: Urine catheterizations, Bladder scanning, Suture or staple removal, Application or removal of casts under provider direction
  • Reading negative TB skin test results or directing patients to nursing staff when results appear positive
  • Point‑of‑care diagnostic testing
  • Provide written instructions for procedures, medications, and follow‑up per provider direction
  • Retrieve and provide condition‑specific patient education from approved sources per provider orders
  • Administer medications as ordered by the provider
  • Assist with prescription refill requests following department protocols
  • Call medications into pharmacies, notify patients of refills, and document actions in the EMR
  • Maintain competencies related to point‑of‑care testing, equipment handling, and specialty skills
  • Adapt to frequent changes in duties and workload
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Maintain respectful interactions with all colleagues
  • Apply knowledge of medical terminology in daily tasks
  • Maintain reliable transportation to support assignments across various ambulatory clinics
  • Perform all department‑specific job functions when floating to other departments
  • Complete medication reconciliation
  • Administer injections
  • Process medication refill requests
  • Conduct point‑of‑care testing and process lab specimens
  • Complete prior authorizations, forms, and coverage verification for HAMP as needed
  • Collect and process specimens accurately
  • Work weekends or holidays as required based on rotation
  • Support pop‑up or temporary departments as needed
