About The Position

Performs a wide variety of patient care activities for the clinic's patients of all ages, including general nursing care, administration of prescribed medications and treatments, education of patients and families, and response to patient telephone calls, utilizing the electronic medical record (EMR) and e-Prescribe medication ordering systems. All care is provided under the supervision of the physician.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Current, valid Medical Assistant certification is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to learn the clinic’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system within 60 days of implementation or hire.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in the e-Prescribe system for medication ordering.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use the e-Prescribe system for medication ordering.
  • Exceptional ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, staff, and the public.
  • Proven ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Capacity to excel in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply information in English for work procedures and professional communication.
  • Proficient spelling and legible handwriting required for accurate documentation.
  • Ability to engage professionally with a diverse range of personalities, including staff, patients, and external individuals.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor that positively represents the organization when addressing inquiries or interacting with colleagues, leadership, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the nursing process by assisting with patient assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation both in-person and via telephone. Operates within the scope of practice and adheres to current standards of care. Accountable for meeting quality standards set by state, federal, and regulatory bodies.
  • Accurately documents patient care in alignment with scope of practice and current standards, utilizing the electronic medical record (EMR), e-Prescribing system, and other EMRs to access imaging, laboratory results, procedure notes, and other pertinent records.
  • Collaborates with physicians and healthcare teams to assess and prioritize patient and family needs, providing and coordinating appropriate care. Responsibilities may include patient and family education, coordinating care with other healthcare providers, fulfilling payer requirements, and assisting patients in obtaining prescribed treatments, therapies, and supplies. Ensures a high standard of customer satisfaction.
  • Assists in patient flow management, including securing and stocking necessary supplies, preparing exam rooms and patients for examination, supporting providers during exams and procedures, performing point-of-care testing, EKGs, blood draws, bladder scans, and maintaining a clean and disinfected exam/treatment area and instruments after use.
  • Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures, including but not limited to infection control, bloodborne pathogen protocols, chemical safety, laboratory standards, administrative policies, and corporate compliance guidelines.
  • Contributes to the clinic’s financial and quality performance by maintaining efficiency and supporting cost-effective care delivery.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and commitment to achieving department goals and objectives.
  • Completes all other assigned duties as needed.
