About The Position

This position involves performing direct clinical activities under the direction of a physician, Charge RN, or Manager. Responsibilities include patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other tests as required by the physician. Accurate documentation in an EMR system is essential, adhering to licensure and VMG policy. The role also requires maintaining close working relationships with practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care, and treatment. Additionally, the Business Associate aspect involves front desk activities such as greeting, registering patients, ensuring insurance compliance, collecting payments, managing the daily patient schedule, and handling incoming calls for appointments, medication refills, or inquiries. This role also coordinates with clinical staff for special needs and ensures proper patient flow, supporting the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
  • Certification required.
  • Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management or business.
  • Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience required.
  • Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners such as American Medical Technology (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required.
  • Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills to set priorities and respond quickly to urgent/emergent situations.
  • Strong communication--both oral, written and presentation skills to convey information in a clear and concise manner to persons of varied age groups, customers and/or groups.
  • Ability to create, maintain and support a high functioning team; establish and foster cooperative working relationships with staff and management; and function effectively as part of that team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office or outpatient setting preferred.
  • BCLS certification preferred upon hire, will be required.
  • Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred.
