About The Position

This position involves dual responsibilities as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and a Business Associate (BA) in a Podiatry practice. The CMA performs direct clinical activities under the direction of a physician, Charge RN, or Manager, including patient intake, blood draws, pharmacy calls, EKGs, and other physician-required tests. Accurate EMR documentation is essential. The BA handles front desk operations such as greeting patients, registration, insurance compliance, payment collection, managing the daily schedule, answering calls, and coordinating with clinical staff for patient flow. This role also supports the practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
Certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners (AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
Completion of formal coursework in office management, database management, or business.
Six (6) months of previous customer service/data entry, administrative/office management/clerical experience.
Ability to use effective organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office, or outpatient setting.
BCLS certification preferred upon hire.
Understanding of the operations of a medical practice.
Strong orientation towards the provisions of high quality, cost effective and comprehensive medical care.
Position may require rotating to other VMG locations from time to time when necessary.

Responsibilities

Performs direct clinical activities including patient intake, blood draw, pharmacy calls, EKG, and other tests as required by the physician.
Accurately documents patient information in an EMR system.
Maintains close working relationships with all practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care, and treatment.
Performs front desk activities including greeting, registering, ensuring insurance compliance, and collecting payments.
Maintains the daily patient schedule.
Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, handles medication refills, and relays inquiries.
Coordinates with clinical staff on special needs or requirements and ensures proper patient flow.
Supports the Practice and professional staff as directed by the Practice Manager.
