About The Position

The Certified Marine Service Technician performs service and warranty repairs on boats, motors, trailers, and ATVs in a timely and efficient manner according to manufacturer specifications. The role supports a high standard of customer service, helps customers understand equipment operation and repair work, and attends technical training to improve proficiency and certification. The technician works under general supervision, applying established procedures and occasional independent judgment to complete assignments and recommend improvements to work practices.

Requirements

• High school education, ongoing completion of classes toward a higher level of manufacturer certification, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to understand electrical systems and wiring.
• Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with customers and associates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Provide own tools.
• Ability to lift heavy items up to and in excess of 50 pounds.
• Ability to work both inside and outside.

Responsibilities

• Provide a pleasant and productive shopping experience for customers.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical problems on boats, motors, trailers, and ATVs.
• Install accessory items.
• Answer customers’ technical questions and explain unit operation and work performed or planned.
• Attend technical training to improve proficiency, work quality, and certification levels.
• Water-test units with customers to verify work and explain product operation.
• Remain familiar with painting processes, decal application, and fiberglass repairs.
• Perform rigging as required.
• Maintain a clean and professional work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
