About The Position

The Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is responsible for overseeing industrial hygiene programs to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control occupational health hazards. This role provides technical expertise to ensure contractor activities comply with applicable industrial hygiene standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations, with a focus on protecting worker health and maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently an Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
  • All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
  • All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and verify that contractor work activities comply with applicable industrial hygiene regulations, standards, and contract requirements (e.g., exposure limits, monitoring requirements, respiratory protection, hazard communication).
  • Conduct on-site industrial hygiene assessments and inspections, including observation of work practices, controls, and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Review and evaluate industrial hygiene records and documentation (e.g., sampling data, equipment calibration records, ventilation and control system performance, medical surveillance interfaces) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Identify industrial hygiene hazards and nonconformances; recommend and help implement engineering, administrative, and PPE controls to reduce exposures and improve worker protection.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with contractors, safety and health staff, and other internal stakeholders to develop and maintain industrial hygiene procedures, work plans, and corrective actions.
  • Support incident/near-miss evaluations from an industrial hygiene perspective and participate in root-cause and corrective action development as needed.
