Our office includes a full Physical Therapy and Occupational/Hand Therapy division, which work in close coordination with our physicians to provide non-operative, preoperative, post-operative and preventive care.

Requirements

Certification as a Durable Medical Equipment Specialist (CDME) or equivalent certification/qualification.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a Medical Assistant required.
Knowledge of medical terminology, equipment, procedures, instruments, and common safety hazards and precautions.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to clearly communicate instructions to patients, caregivers, physicians, and coworkers.
Computer literate and comfortable working in a Windows-based environment.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in DME fitting, orthopedic support, casting, splinting, or a related clinical setting preferred.
Orthopedic clinical experience preferred.
Experience with Epic and/or MotionMD preferred.

Responsibilities

Fit, measure, size, and adjust Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and orthopedic devices in accordance with physician orders and patient needs.
Apply, adjust, and remove orthopedic braces, splints, supports, and other devices as directed.
Assist with orthopedic casting and splinting procedures.
Educate patients and caregivers on the proper use, application, care, and maintenance of DME and orthopedic devices.
Verify that DME is appropriately fitted and that patients understand instructions prior to leaving the office.
Maintain accurate documentation related to DME dispensed, patient education, and equipment usage.
Maintain organized DME inventory and assist with monitoring equipment and supply levels.
Admit and room patients in a timely and professional manner.
Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medications, chief complaint, and reason for visit.
Ensure medical records contain appropriate and complete documentation, including medications, progress notes, laboratory results, and other relevant clinical information.
Prepare patients for examination and treatment by the physician.
Prepare examination rooms and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available.
Order examinations, tests, or other services as directed by the physician.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Perform other clinical duties within the scope of training, certification, and applicable regulations.
The employee may be required to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Clinical Director, physicians, or management.
