CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - Gastroenterology
About The Position
American Medical Group / Emerald Coast Infectious Diseases is seeking a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant to support physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff in its busy Gastroenterology department in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The role includes clinical and administrative tasks and helps deliver patient care while promoting a positive patient experience and efficient clinic flow. The CCMA assists with patient care, prepares patients for examinations and procedures, maintains accurate medical records, coordinates referrals and testing, and supports clinic operations. The position is full-time and pays $18.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Requirements
- CCMA or RMA certification.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Specialty Care.
- Knowledge of GI procedures and care, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD), capsule endoscopy, and liver disease management.
- BLS/CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for office visits and procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints.
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures as needed.
- Educate patients about medications, treatment plans, dietary recommendations, and procedure preparation instructions.
- Respond to patient questions and concerns and escalate clinical issues to providers when appropriate.
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and properly stocked.
- Administer medications and injections as authorized by state regulations and provider orders.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating diagnostic testing, laboratory work, imaging studies, endoscopic procedures, and specialty referrals.
- Monitor and manage provider in-baskets, patient messages, and prescription refill requests.
