About The Position

The Medical Assistant Certified (CMA) provides superior patient care and performs clinical and administrative tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment. The CMA works as part of a care team led by a physician and/or advanced practice provider. This is a full-time, day-shift Gastroenterology position in Athens, Texas. UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility with a 24-hour emergency department, Level IV trauma center, Level III stroke center, advanced diagnostic technology, a 10-bed ICU, a maternity unit, a radiation therapy center, and a stand-alone emergency department in Gun Barrel City. Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited medical assistant or medical technologist school/program.
Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
Basic knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office.
Obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree.
Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care.
