About The Position

This role is for a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in an East TN Primary Care setting. The position involves a range of clinical and administrative responsibilities focused on patient care and office operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Medical Assistant Training
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification
  • State LPN License
  • Knowledge of EMR
  • Skilled in customer service with a pleasant and courteous demeanor
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently without much supervision
  • Skills in critical thinking, communication, influence, and decision making
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team
  • Daily standing, walking, squatting, bending, and maneuvering
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to manage stress triggered by workload and difficult patterns

Responsibilities

  • Patient triage including weight, blood pressure, temperature readings, updating medication lists, and documenting chief complaints.
  • Manage electronic patient prescription services, including communication with pharmacies and verification of all medical prescriptions.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKGs.
  • Answer telephone, screen calls, retrieve voicemails, and return patient calls.
  • Handle pre-certification requirements for all procedures.
  • Contact patients regarding lab results.
  • Maintain daily logs.
  • Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
  • Communicate with patients regarding information and education about procedure preps.
  • Schedule procedures, medical tests, and referral appointments, including coordinating dates, times, and locations, and rescheduling as necessary.
  • Schedule appointments, verifying necessary information such as demographics and insurance information in the patient medical record or file.
  • Assist other staff as directed.
  • Perform other job functions as directed.
  • Apply knowledge of nursing principles, protocols, and medication names and prescribing.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality as per HIPAA standards.
  • Manage medical chart reporting and records.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance in person.
  • Attend meetings as required.
