About The Position

Northland Fleet Services, a long-term member of LaPrairie Group of Companies, is seeking a full-time Certified Automotive Mechanic, 3rd /4th Year Apprentice to join their growing team in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. The company has over 35 years of experience providing services to the mining and resource industries, including repairs and maintenance for heavy equipment and light vehicles. Rotational opportunities with provided accommodations are available for qualified candidates not residing in Tumbler Ridge.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as an Automotive Mechanic.
  • Registered in apprenticeship program??
  • Must have a Class 5 driver’s license at minimum – Class 3 preferred – and a CVIP license.
  • Strong understanding of computer testing and diagnostic technologies.
  • Ability to lift heavy machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment.
  • Welding and cutting abilities.
  • Ability to work after-hours if required.
  • Good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ford certified experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain service operations by inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various pieces of equipment, including gas, diesel, light and heavy-duty units.
  • Complete maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles.
  • Test, measure, and verify gas component operations.
  • Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting tests as required, including test drives, adjusting controls and systems, pressure tests.
  • Operate / diagnose engines powered by diesel or gasoline.
  • Consult with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Remain current with federal, provincial, and local codes and regulations and perform duties in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act/Code.
  • Ensure that required tools, parts and supplies are available for each job performed.
  • Complete required service and equipment performance reports as required.
  • Other duties shall be assigned as required.
