About The Position

OrthoArizona is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to provide athletic training services in a community or clinic setting under the supervision of a physician. This role will also serve as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the AZ Rattlers from March to August. Responsibilities include injury prevention, assessment, treatment, case management, attending practices and games, developing and re-evaluating treatment plans, educating clients and families, and documenting patient treatment. The position requires adherence to professional and regulatory standards and collaboration with supervisors on unusual situations. This role has no budgetary responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited university training program.
  • Current Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer certification.
  • Must possess a valid athletic trainer license issued in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Strong interpersonal communications and human relation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administers athletic training services in a community or clinic setting under the supervision of a supervising physician.
  • Serve as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the AZ Rattlers during the months of March to August.
  • Conduct school screenings, injury prevention programs, athletic consults, injury assessment, and treatment and case management of injured athletes/clients undergoing rehabilitation.
  • Frequently attends practices and games for area schools and athletic clubs and community athletic events.
  • Evaluate injuries and develop treatment and exercise plans within the scope of practice.
  • Re-evaluate treatment plans, as needed, to ensure maximum patient benefit.
  • Implement individualized therapeutic interventions, and monitor responses to therapy to ensure client safety.
  • Report progress and medical changes to referring physician or appropriate medical provider.
  • Educates clients, families, and coaches regarding injuries, risk factor modification, and exercise programs.
  • Provide evaluation and treatment of medical and musculoskeletal pathology consistent with the scope and practice of athletic training clinical competencies as defined by the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the State's Board of Athletic Training.
  • Conduct injury screening clinics, educational programs, and workshops to promote safety and injury prevention.
  • Documents patient treatment according to professional and regulatory standard.
  • Has autonomy to determine how to best accomplish functions within established procedures and scope of practice.
  • Confers with supervisor on any unusual situations.
