About The Position

Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking CAAs for opportunities at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Hillcrest Hospital is a tertiary care facility and a Level 2 Trauma Center, known for its exceptional healthcare services. The role offers a diverse range of cases, including a busy and high-risk OB department. There is a collaborative work environment where CAAs, CRNAs, and MDAs share responsibilities and respect each other's contributions. CAAs can participate in various committees and contribute to process improvement initiatives. The position offers flexibility in scheduling, with most CAAs working four 10-hour shifts or a combination of two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts per week. Occasional weekend call from home is expected, typically an 8-hour shift once every 4-5 weeks. Cleveland Clinic is an eligible employer for PSLF (Public Student Loan Forgiveness). The role involves administering anesthesia to patients, monitoring their physical reaction to the anesthetic, and administering emergency measures when complications arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited by an organization recognized by the board of regents.
  • Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • Current, valid certificate of registration.
  • Written practice protocol consistent with section 4760.09 of the Revised Code.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • None required (for Work Experience).

Responsibilities

  • Obtains a comprehensive patient history and performs relevant elements of a physical exam.
  • Discusses findings and anesthetic plan with supervising anesthesiologist before induction of anesthesia.
  • Reviews the patient's condition with the anesthesiologist immediately prior to the induction of anesthesia.
  • Pretests and calibrates anesthesia delivery systems.
  • Administers blood, blood products and supportive fluids.
  • Other duties as assigned.
