About The Position

This position is responsible for scheduling all outpatient exams, providing patients with necessary preparation instructions, and managing departmental office supplies. The role requires a strong understanding of department policies, procedures, and safety standards, as well as the ability to handle patient registration and billing processes. The scheduler will also be responsible for ensuring accurate ICD-10 coding for payment and maintaining departmental manuals.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of department policies, procedures, objectives, QI/Risk management and safety standards.
  • Excellent phone skills.
  • Ability to register a client and bill a patient.
  • Understanding of scheduling/exam protocols for all areas.
  • Ability to meet and interact with patients of all ages.
  • Proficiency with copy machine, departmental computer, typewriter, and fax machine.
  • Ability to read and process paperwork generated daily.
  • Ability to communicate via telephone and one-on-one with patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical experience preferred.
  • Secretarial training desired.
  • Prior experience working with personal computers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment.
  • Distinguish between future orders and immediate needs.
  • Ensure acceptable ICD-10 codes for payment.
  • Schedule all outpatient exams and provide prep instructions.
  • Create new encounters or utilize existing ones.
  • Check voicemail and respond to all calls.
  • Register clients and bill patients.
  • Understand scheduling and exam protocols for all areas.
  • Maintain departmental policies and procedures manuals.
  • Match orders to the next day's schedule.
  • Order and maintain office supplies for the department.
  • Check pre-certifications and obtain pre-cert numbers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
