About The Position

The Central Sterile Supply Tech collects, decontaminates, stores, and distributes reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital. The role inspects, decontaminates, assembles, and sterilizes instruments and other patient care equipment according to applicable processing guidelines and requirements. The technician operates departmental equipment, provides customer service to hospital departments, processes and documents sterile supplies and equipment, and tests antimicrobial and disinfection solutions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Critical-thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Collect, decontaminate, store, and distribute reusable supplies and patient care equipment.
• Inspect, decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
• Operate departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions, with emphasis on safety.
• Provide customer service to all departments with a focus on patient needs.
• Process and document sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological, and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
• Monitor and perform antimicrobial and disinfection solution testing according to manufacturer instructions, with daily documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
