About The Position

Responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing instruments and equipment from all areas of the facility, and for operating and caring for that equipment and those instruments. The role also sets up patient care carts and maintains patient care equipment. It requires knowledge of instrument-processing techniques and the ability to work, multitask, and prioritize in a stressful environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalency.
• At least two years of experience with surgical instrumentation.
• At least two years of prior central service or surgical technology experience.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or Surgical Technology Program.
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification issued by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), or current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification issued by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Ability to apply standard blood and body fluid precautions.
• Ability to work, multitask, and prioritize in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize instruments and equipment from all areas of the facility.
• Operate and care for instruments and equipment.
• Set up patient care carts and maintain patient care equipment.
• Demonstrate and perform steam and low-temperature sterilization.
• Perform essential functions on CSP equipment and mechanical devices that are tested and validated to meet regulatory requirements.
