About The Position

The Agency of Transportation (AOT/VTrans) is seeking an experienced automobile, truck, or heavy equipment parts specialist or manager to lead others. The Central Garage Parts Manager in Berlin assists with parts management, contract drafting, specification writing, bulk procurement, team meetings, and other parts-related aspects of the agency’s vehicle and equipment fleet. The role requires aptitude in mechanical work, scheduling, training, communication, prioritization, and delegation.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in automotive and equipment maintenance, or in automotive parts inventory control or sales, including inventory control experience; alternatively, at least two years as an AOT Parts Specialist II.
• A valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated parts-management aptitude related to mechanical ability, scheduling, training, communicating, prioritizing, and delegating.

Responsibilities

• Assist with parts management for the agency’s fleet of vehicles and equipment.
• Assist with contract drafting and specification writing.
• Assist with bulk procurement.
• Participate in team meetings and other parts-related activities.
• Prioritize and delegate work appropriately.
• Provide supply room services during storms and emergency situations, including necessary overtime.
