About The Position

The Center Supervisor serves as the primary operational leader during assigned shifts and provides leadership in the absence of the Director of Plasma Center Operations/Manager Plasma Center Operations. This position performs technical duties as needed while supporting quality initiatives, employee development, and continuous process improvement. Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the plasma center production areas while ensuring donor safety, product quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. Oversees staff performance, scheduling, workflow, training, and production goals while maintaining compliance with FDA regulations, OSHA requirements, CLIA requirements, IQPP Standards, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), company policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Requirements

Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Advanced knowledge of FDA regulations, OSHA requirements, CLIA requirements, IQPP Standards, cGMP, and company SOPs.
Thorough understanding of donor eligibility requirements.
Advanced operation and troubleshooting of automated plasmapheresis equipment.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills. Ability to train, coach, and evaluate employees.
Ability to coordinate workflow and production activities.
Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
Ability to identify quality trends and participate in CAPAs and Root Cause Analysis.
Must have advanced customer service, interpersonal communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Must have proficient computer skills.
Basic math skills (related to determining donor eligibility, recognition, and draw information).
Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend written procedures and instructions.
Ability to work flexible shifts.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member.
Bilingual (Spanish) skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
Integrity to admit and report errors (or possible errors), which could result in regulatory deviations and/or in the release of an unsafe product.
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
Current CPR Certification required.

Nice To Haves

Associates or Bachelor’s degree desirable.
Optional: Medical Assistant Diploma, Certified Nursing Assistant Diploma, Emergency Medical Technician Certificate, Phlebotomy Certificate or similar military experience/certification.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in employee supervision, production operations, quality systems, regulatory compliance, and customer service is highly desirable.
Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
Current Driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervises daily plasma center operations and production activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
Effectively develops daily staffing assignments and work schedules based on donor volume and business needs.
Effectively manages the production areas, motivates and encourages employees to meet their performance goals, and to comply with company quality standards and procedures.
Monitors productivity, donor flow, and operational metrics to achieve center performance goals.
Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to center employees.
Conducts and monitors completion of employee training, competency assessments, and retraining as needed.
Participates in employment application pre-screening and interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
Properly documents and counsels employees on non-conforming events, working with management to determine root cause.
Performs all areas of operations, except the tasks of a Medical Specialist.
Fosters teamwork. Works collaboratively with staff, peers, and management to achieve business goals. Communicates continuously and resolves conflicts proactively.
Initiates employee disciplinary action, corrective actions, and employee counseling in accordance with company policies and procedures, as necessary.
Ensures donors receive professional, safe, and courteous service throughout the donation process. Ensures compliance with FDA regulations, OSHA requirements, CLIA requirements, IQPP Standards, cGMP, and company SOPs.
Maintains good attendance and punctuality in accordance with the attendance policy.
Oversees completion and review of quality control activities, equipment calibrations, preventive maintenance, cleaning records, and operational documentation.
Reviews and manages deviations, investigations, CAPAs, and corrective actions.
Participates in internal audits and regulatory inspections.
Serves as the center representative during inspections when delegated.
Performs all duties related to the collection and handling of plasma products (e.g. computerized medical history screening, plasma phlebotomy collection, handling donor recovery and adverse reactions, loading, set-up and tear down of equipment, packing and handling of plasma products and performing daily quality control).
Collects apheresis pre-donation samples, donor retest and other samples as requested.
Promotes teamwork, employee engagement, and a positive work environment. Reports compliance concerns immediately to management.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills in accordance with current customer service standards to represent a positive image for the organization.
Maintains complete and accurate records related to donor procedures, quality control, cleaning records and training documentation.
Responds to after-hours operational emergencies as needed.
Assists with document control and SOP implementation.
Supports donor recruitment by actively recruiting and retaining donors for apheresis donation and educating donors regarding promotions and new initiatives (e.g. ExpressPass, PlasmaShare App, etc.).
Works at plasma center to support the production goals and meeting plasma donor needs.
Back-up for all activities involving the NDDR for those times when the Director/Manager is unavailable. Includes: the accurate and timely review of donor records, data entry, record updates, documentation, and follow-up activities. Provides guidance and oversight to staff regarding NDDR processes and ensures compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Recognizes signs and symptoms of pre-adverse reactions. Responds to and handles pre-adverse reactions per SOP and notifies medical staff. Assists medical staff during donor evaluations and adverse reaction management.
Responsible for oversight of collection operations in the absence of a Director or Manager.
Performs responsibilities and functions such as proper documentation of daily activities, monitors donor flow and stats required by Quality Assurance. Ensures staff follows time clock procedures including taking proper rest and meal breaks.
Serves as preceptor and mentor for trainees assigned for hands-on practice. Reports trainee progress back to management.
Responsible for reviewing and approving assigned employee time cards.
Performs other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
