About The Position

The Center Store Associate provides quality customer service in Food Lion’s Center Store (Grocery) Department. The role maintains department standards in accordance with the standard practice manual, maximizes sales through excellent customer service, and minimizes shrink through proper use of standard practices. Food Lion emphasizes associate development through on-the-job learning and training.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and the technical requirements of the job.
Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.
Must be able to meet the position’s physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.
Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
Ability to bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to stand 100% of the time and frequently walk short distances.
Ability to handle substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials.
Ability to reach and grasp frequently at waist level and occasionally above shoulder or below waist level.
Ability to meet established volume activity standards for the position.
Ability to tolerate extreme hot or cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Responsibilities

Provide fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience.
Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
Clean shelves and shelf tag moldings with a damp cloth as needed when stocking.
Maintain shelf allocations by stocking merchandise from tag to tag.
Place only saleable merchandise on shelves.
Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise follow company policies and guidelines.
Understand and use company tools, including the average cost inventory system (ACIS) and ordering system (CAO).
Understand and follow company guidelines, policies, standard practices, food safety procedures, and workplace safety procedures.
Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.
Report associate and customer accidents according to established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Wear the Food Lion uniform and name badge while on duty, maintain a neat and clean appearance, and follow the dress code.
Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid courses.
Perform other duties as assigned.
