About The Position

The Cemetery Maintenance Worker maintains cemetery grounds by completing daily tasks assigned by the Cemetery Crew Supervisor. The role includes groundskeeping, opening and closing gravesites, and performing basic equipment maintenance as needed. The employee may also perform other similar duties as required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of landscaping.
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to prioritize work and solve problems.
• Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange or convey information and receive work direction when interacting with coworkers, a supervisor, and the general public.
• Ability to perform the stated physical activities and heavy work: exerting 50–100 pounds occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, or 10–20 pounds constantly.

Responsibilities

• Mow grounds, cut shrubbery, trim trees, sweep roads, blow and pick up leaves, and empty and clean trash receptacles.
• Open gravesites by digging with proper equipment.
• Close gravesites by covering graves, planting new grass seed, and washing all equipment.
• Perform basic maintenance on equipment as needed.
• Perform other similar duties as required.
