About The Position

Join Apple’s RF Transmitter Systems Engineering team to develop differentiating transmitter architectures and solutions for Apple wireless products. The role works with architecture and systems engineering, RF design, and software teams to assess, specify, and drive transmitter concepts, prioritizing leading-edge performance and product quality. The team is responsible for executing its commitments to schedule and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in RF, including cellular transmit architectures, or a Ph.D. with previous work on cellular topics.
  • Knowledge of cellular radio and 3GPP standards, including GSM, UMTS, LTE, LTE-A, and 5G NR, as well as RF aspects, system use cases, and TX waveforms.
  • Familiarity with RF systems, RF front-end components (power amplifiers, filters, switches, and power management), and transceiver architecture, including lineup design and trade-offs such as gain, linearity, noise, power, and thermal performance.
  • Experience with hardware and software co-design and understanding of trade-offs between analog and digital hardware and firmware implementations.
  • Strong analytical skills, proactive use of AI tools, and ability to collaborate and communicate across multicultural, global teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of translating top-level RF requirements into specifications for RF front-end and transceiver architecture and building blocks.
  • Initial expertise in RF transmitter system-level concepts, control and data translation into modulations, and control procedures such as power control, digital predistortion, and envelope tracking.
  • RF front-end and RFIC system modeling and simulation experience.
  • Expertise in RF front-end architectures, technologies, and design.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Understanding of SoC integration constraints and multi-chip RF architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Work with architecture and systems engineering, RF design, and software teams.
  • Assess, specify, and drive RF transmitter concepts focused on performance and quality.
