About The Position

RK&K is hiring an experienced Project/Construction Manager to manage and strengthen its Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in the Knoxville/Tri-Cities, Tennessee area. The role manages heavy civil, highway, roadway, and bridge construction projects, with project-level contract administration and leadership of CM/CEI teams. Statewide travel between job sites is expected.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 15 or more years of experience in roadway and structures construction.
• At least 5 years of experience managing construction projects in Tennessee, or at least 10 years of Construction Management experience with TDOT.
• Advanced working knowledge of civil engineering and construction principles and practices, including methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts, and interpret construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications.
• Ability to train, coordinate, and supervise inspection technicians in the field.
• Understanding of the QA/QC development and execution process.
• Statewide travel between job sites is expected; a clean driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or manage roadway and bridge projects to ensure contract compliance.
• Manage and administer heavy civil, highway, and bridge projects, leading teams of Junior Project Managers, Contract Administrative Support, Senior Inspectors, Inspectors, and CPM Reviewers.
• Participate in preconstruction services, including scoping, utility-conflict review, constructability, and biddability.
• Monitor project progress and adherence to plans and specifications.
• Ensure CM/CEI team members’ training and equipment needs are met.
• Support business development activities.
• Recruit, select, manage, and train employees to develop and maintain area Construction Management/CEI staff.
• Apply knowledge of on-call service contracts and mining contracts for task orders.
• Act with high integrity and ethics when dealing with clients, subconsultants, and peers.
