About The Position

Join Everest’s Ceded Reinsurance Accounting department for the summer of 2026! This is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to the world of Ceded Reinsurance through dynamic training and firsthand business experience. A prospective student candidate can expect to build upon their established academic foundations and apply learnings to real-world scenarios. The Ceded Reinsurance Accounting Intern will support the team with day-to-day ceded processing, basic accounting tasks, and data analysis related to our ceded reinsurance portfolio. This is a learning-focused role designed for a student with no prior professional experience. The intern will work under close supervision and will gain exposure to reinsurance concepts, month-end activities, and internal reporting.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or a recent graduate).
  • Prior professional experience is not required.
  • Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Excel (comfort with formulas and learning PivotTables/VLOOKUPs preferred).
  • Eligible candidates must be able to work out of the Warren, NJ office 3 times a week throughout the Program.
  • Organized, with the ability to manage time, follow instructions, and keep workpapers and files well-documented.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and interest in data/financial analysis; able to learn how to collect, organize, and summarize information accurately.
  • Eager to learn; able to work independently on assigned tasks while asking questions and seeking feedback when needed.
  • Professional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible and responsive in a fast-paced environment; able to adjust priorities with guidance.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously and meet agreed-upon deadlines with support from the team.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfort with formulas and learning PivotTables/VLOOKUPs in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of ceded accounts and bordereaux, including organizing supporting documentation and entering data under supervision.
  • Support the collection and settlement process by tracking open items, preparing follow-ups, and escalating questions to the team.
  • Assist with reconciliations by comparing source reports to the general ledger and flagging variances for review.
  • Learn to review reinsurance contract and facultative certificate terms (e.g., quota share, excess of loss) and summarize key details for the team.
  • Work with internal partners to ensure requested information is received on time and files are maintained in an organized manner.
  • Communicate professionally with internal and external contacts and help maintain positive working relationships.
  • Support ad hoc projects (e.g., data cleanup, reporting, process documentation) as assigned.
