Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front-, side-, or rear-end load-lift attachments, depending on the line of business and vehicle. They transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers collect waste or recyclable materials from customer containers, which may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup area. Residential Drivers collect household waste or recyclables and safely maneuver vehicles in residential environments. Roll-off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open-top and compactor containers from customer locations. The work involves navigating congested roads, driveways, alleyways, and lots; some industrial routes have tight overhead environments, and skilled backing maneuvers are essential. Drivers operate according to company safety rules and applicable OSHA, DOT, and other laws; inspect and document vehicle condition before and after trips; report safety, service, and incident issues; attend required training and meetings; and work with operations staff to improve route efficiency. They complete assigned routes, service containers fully and leave customer locations clean, follow end-of-day documentation procedures, and assist other drivers as directed. This is a safety-sensitive role. Candidates must comply with safety protocols and may be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment, post-incident, reasonable-suspicion, and random testing. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends, and drivers are home nightly. The expected base pay range is $30.00–$32.00 per hour, depending on relevant factors including experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
