About The Position

WM drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front-, side-, or rear-end load-lift attachments, depending on the line of business and truck type. They transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers pick up containers filled with waste or recyclable material; containers may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup area. Drivers navigate congested roads, driveways, alleyways, and lots, and must perform skilled backing maneuvers. Depending on the route, responsibilities may also include residential waste collection or preparing, loading, and transporting large open-top and compactor containers, including on industrial routes and in tight overhead environments. The role requires safe operation of the vehicle, completion of inspections and documentation, communication of service issues and customer requests, and completion of assigned routes. This is a safety-sensitive role subject to company and government safety requirements, including drug and alcohol testing. WM describes its workplace as people-first and offers opportunities for career growth, paid on-the-job training, and education assistance.
