About The Position

Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front-, side-, or rear-end load lift attachments, depending on the line of business and vehicle type. They transport material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers pick up containers filled with waste or recyclable material, which may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup area. Drivers navigate high-traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots; skilled backing maneuvers are essential. Residential Drivers collect household waste or recyclable material and maneuver vehicles safely in residential environments. Roll-off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open-top and compactor containers from customer locations, including on industrial routes with tight overhead environments. This safety-sensitive role requires compliance with safety rules and protocols. Candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screening, including a drug screen and physical. As an ongoing employment requirement, employees may be subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with government regulations and company policies. WM describes its work as supporting a sustainable future and offers opportunities for employee growth, including education assistance, paid on-the-job training, and career progression.
