Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front-, side-, or rear-end load-lift attachments, depending on the line of business and vehicle. They transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers pick up containers of waste or recyclable material, which may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup area. Residential Drivers collect household waste or recyclables and safely navigate residential settings. Roll-Off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large open-top and compactor containers from customer locations, including routes with tight overhead environments. The role requires safe driving, skilled backing, and navigating congested roads, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Drivers must follow company, OSHA, DOT, and applicable laws and safety requirements. They inspect assigned vehicles before and after trips, report safety or service issues and incidents, participate in training and meetings, collaborate with the Route Manager on route efficiency, communicate customer requests and service interruptions, empty receptacles completely, leave customer locations clean, follow route assignments, complete end-of-day documentation, and assist other drivers as directed. This is an on-site, safety-sensitive position. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday with an early start time; drivers are described as home at night and on weekends. The expected base pay is $24.00. The posting also advertises a $5,000 sign-on bonus. WM describes the role as offering a competitive compensation package and benefits, which may vary by site.
