The CDL Truck Driver Trainee role begins as a Delivery Assistant, helping unload products at Kwik Trip stores and placing them in the correct locations, including coolers, freezers, and backrooms. Trainees work with minimal supervision in a safety-conscious environment and in varied weather and temperature conditions. Kwik Trip pays trainees while they attend CDL school and covers their tuition. The 16-week training program starts with six weeks as a Delivery Assistant, followed by four weeks of CDL coursework, then six to eight weeks working with Kwik Trip trainers as a CDL Driver Trainee. On completing the program, trainees are expected to accept a driving position with Kwik Trip. Trainees average 40–60 hours per week and follow the schedule of the route driver they assist. Established route drivers work a rotating four-days-on, two-days-off schedule, including holidays, and typically work up to 50–60 hours per week. Drivers must be able to work a day-shift schedule with a 3 p.m. start time. Applicants must live within 60 miles and 60 minutes of Deforest, Wisconsin.
