About The Position

Bluegrass Community and Technical College is hiring a full-time instructor with a broad background in Commercial Driver Licensing (CDL). The instructor teaches in various formats within the CDL Program, including hybrid (online) lectures, competency-based instruction, and hands-on labs. The position works day and some evening hours at the Leestown Campus. Depending on workforce demand, instruction may take place in other communities as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of verifiable commercial driving experience as a CDL Class A driver, with a clean driving record.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Strong commitment to excellence in teaching.
• Experience working with a diverse population.

Nice To Haves

• Experience teaching CDL Class A courses.
• Associate degree or higher.

Responsibilities

• Teach CDL students to prepare them to pass the written CDL-A permit test, pre-trip test, skills test, and road test.
• Continually evaluate student performance and document progress using attendance forms and checklists.
• Identify gaps in student progress and provide additional help as needed.
• Emphasize safety concepts, principles, and procedures.
• Ensure trucks are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
• Provide quality training to Bluegrass CDL students while maintaining organized records and performing other departmental responsibilities.
